Burks Excavation Corporation of Idaho, established in 1996 by Beau and Megan Burks in Hailey, Idaho, is a heavy civil contractor specializing in large infrastructure and heavy earth-moving projects throughout the state of Idaho. The company has undertaken various notable projects, showcasing its capabilities in the construction industry.
One of the significant projects undertaken by Burks Excavation was the Power County Wind Turbine Project located in American Falls, Idaho. This project involved extensive work, including the construction of seventeen miles of roads, blasting operations, and crushing over 350,000 cubic yards of material for the roads. Additionally, the company moved over 750,000. cubic yards of earth for the project. The Power County Wind Turbine Project commenced in January 2011 and was successfully completed in November of the same year.
In 2023, the company played a crucial role in the Lift Enhancement Project for Sun Valley Company. This project included all heavy earth moving for the top and bottom lift terminals for both the new Challenger Lift and the new Flying Squirrel Lift. Burks Excavation Corporation was also responsible for building the new Lower Flying Squirrel ski run and the installation of thousands of feet of snowmaking. The project commenced on April 10, 2023, following one of the largest snow years on record. Burks Excavation Corporation worked closely with all contractors to ensure project completion for the 2024 season, meeting deadlines and ensuring the timely commencement of the lifts.
